Not on Your Telly

1st August 2022

Last year, during lockdown, we came together as a group of local artists with an aim to produce a local TV show for local people. Since then, we’ve produced 8 hour-long shows that do just that. We’ve provided a platform for local musicians and comedians, provided training to young people interested in the creative arts, given focus to local events and people and shone a spotlight on the community spirit that exists in Southend. And in keeping with that spirit, everyone – including myself – worked on the show for free.

As the show’s director I wanted to mark the end of the series by thanking everyone who has given their time and support to make it all possible, both in front of and behind the cameras, and those who’ve joined our studio audience or watched, liked or commented on our streams. It just wouldn’t have been possible without you.

The final episode can be viewed (for free) on Facebook and YouTube, and alongside our show regulars we’ve got a great line-up: RUSSELL KANE, ASH FRITH and THE LAST OF THE LIZARDMEN, as well as a feature on Southend YMCA.

As with mainstream television, whether or not we return for a season 2 is really down to our audience. So please tell us what you think, and share far and wide.
